Ostfreisland Posted on January 11th, 2015 by

January 11, 2015 was the last morning that our group spent in the city of Bremen. The group ate breakfast in the hotel before we departed on a chater bus at roughly 8:30 a.m. We road the bus to the city of Bremerhaven and drove through it’s international port for car exporting. Then we made our way to the German Emigration Center where we took a tour at 10:00. This tour had each of us following through the journey of different German citizens who emmigrated from Germany to America. The group ate a supurb lunch of fish and mashed potatos covered in a hollandar sauce at the Emmigration Center. From the Emmigration Center we traveled the on autobon to Ostfreisland where we met up with one of our amazing coordinators Lisa. Lisa brought us in contact with our host family’s for the first time for tea and new years cakes, Yum! This was where we learned some of the unique traditions of Ostfreisland such as, it’s polite to have at least three cups of tea when ever it is offered and one signals that they would not like any more tea by placing their spoon in their cup. After tea, we each went our persective ways by returning home with our hosts to enjoy the first homecooked prepared meal!
