Ostfriesland Day 1 Posted on January 11th, 2015 by

We started out the day getting breakfast at the hotel before the charter bus came to pick us up to depart to Bremerhaven/Ostfriesland. Once we arrived in Bremerhaven, we went into the Auswandererhaus or emigrant museum. This place was very interesting because it helped us understand what it would be like to be an emigrant leaving Germany during the 19th and 20th century. After the tour was over we were able to look on a computer and search some names of family members on the computer to see if one of your relatives had emigrated from this exact site. I thought this was the best part of the tour because I was able to see that my great grandpa left from this port. After the tour we had lunch, then we were back on our way to Ostfriesland. Once we got to Ostfriesland we were able to have some typical Ostfriesisch tea. Soon after our arrival our host family’s showed up and we had some tea with them and talked for a while until we left for their homes. Once I got to their home I was surprised because it was not what I was expecting. It is a very nice place but I figured it would be a lot smaller. After we talked for a while, we had dinner and this is where my night ended. It was an eventful day, and I am looking forward to tomorrow.
