Arrival to Paris Posted on January 16th, 2015 by

The Gusties got up and early for the third day in a row to make their way to Paris, France. The group was able to keep up high spirits for the arrival even after some required patience figuring out the Airfrance baggage check situation. There was some miscommunication with the airline about whether a free checked bag is included in a plane ticket.

We met our guide Pernille at the airport and went on our way to the hotel, luggage and all. Shortly after arriving at the hotel we realized that the rooms were not quite ready so we went to lunch at restuarants nearby. After lunch we checked into our rooms got back on the bus and took off for a guided tour through the city. The tour lasted around two hours and finished by dropping us off at the Eiffel Tower.

It was cold and rainy but that did not deter from the excitement of finally seeing one of the most popular landmarks in the world. The group took the lift up to the second floor of the tower and were not disappointed with spectacular view of the city. As we were leaving the tower the flashing lights came on as they do every hour on the hour. Once the group was all back together we headed back to the hotel for dinner.

For our first French cuisine we had a salad with grilled chicken and parmasean cheese to start, pork chops and potatoes for the main entree, a chocolate cake bar for dessert. To finish the day we had class learning about Olympic art and the main attractions in the Louvre. Thanks to Brad Entwistle and Matthew Baker for putting on such a informative session. Tomorrow we are looking forward to seeing some of the greatest works of art in the world!

We apologize for not having any pictures for this post. Unfortunately there is an issue with uploading media on the blog.
