Half way around the world in a day Posted on January 9th, 2015 by

It started yesterday at 6 am in a blizzard in St. Peter, MN. After arriving at the airport, we were quickly corrected in our headings and made it to our gate with time to spare.  This first flight was the warm up, a supposedly one hour flight to Chicago where we would get ready for the main trek to Frankfurt.  Little did  know that we would spend more time on the tarmac in Chicago then actually in the air to Chicago.  Long wait aside, we made it onto our connecting flight in one piece. This plane was the biggest any of us had ever flown in.  Despite its size, the leg room and personal space afforded was no better.  This was forgiven with the multitude of free movies and food.  After arriving late to Frankfurt, we finally made it onto our final leg of the trip to Bremen.  This tiny puddle hopper was no match for the German wind and everyone on board could feel it. Despite this, we arrived to our hotel in good spirits although tired after the 16 hours of travel.  In order to fend off jet lag, we neglected crashing right away as it was 11 o’clock local time.  We were imply given free time to roam the city and find food and drinks.  After that and a much needed na, the group went to a nice welcome dinner.  Even though the dinner got done at 8pm, everyone was already looking forward to getting some much needed sleep for the adventure that awaits us.
