Germany to America to Russia? Posted on January 13th, 2015 by

This day began well, as does each day when a wonderful host family prepares breakfast for you. The weather in Ostfriesland was a bit windy with a rain that lasted through out most all of the day. I asked a local what they do in Ostfriesland when it rains and the answer was, they just let it rain. Our group piled into a bus early in the moin, as the locals say, and believe it or not our group traveled all the way from Russia to America on bus!.. Well, the towns of Amerika and Russland but if is still official according to the certificate we received after the journey! We were traveling along the northern coast of Germany and we made a stop in Neuharlingersiel for lunch at a coastal sea food restaurant. We were able to look out over the dykes that line the coast of the country to prevent high seas from entering. The next stop that our group found themselves at was a harbor where we had the privilege of observing the most magnificently detailed ships that just happened to be constructed within bottles. The Bottleship shop contained many hand crafted ships in bottles, many of which were based off of real ships. Our last stop was made at a seal lion conservatory where we witnessed seals in a sea world like setting. We all safely returned to our host families to enjoy a cooked meal followed by well desired rest.
